You’ll be directed to complete the Pre-Assessment Questionnaire online. Once that’s done, you can schedule your virtual SAP evaluation. Most appointments are available within the same week. Your SAP guides you through every step.
The Return-to-Duty process typically takes 2 to 6 weeks from start to finish, depending on the SAP’s recommendations. The initial evaluation usually happens within 1 week of payment. After completing any recommended education or treatment, you complete a follow-up evaluation before being cleared for return-to-duty testing.
The $95 Pre-Assessment Questionnaire is provided to your SAP and gives them the needed information to begin their portion of the Return-to-Duty process with you.
The SAP’s fee (up to $500) is paid directly to the SAP and generally includes the initial evaluation, follow-up evaluation, and Return-to-Duty recommendation review.
Every situation is different. Depending on the SAP’s recommendations, additional education, treatment, or follow-up services may be required. Any fees associated with those services are separate and are determined directly between you and your SAP.

Dr. B. maintains licensure as a psychologist in New York State and in New Jersey. He possesses several certifications for the treatment of substance abuse disorders/chemical dependency, (NYS OASAS Master CASAC, DOT Approved SAP, NCCAP - Master Addiction Counselor). In addition, he is authorized to perform Independent Medical Exams (IMEs) by the NYS Workers Compensation Board. Dr. B. facilitates return-to-duty eligibility when an individual violates DOT regulations or when a driver seeks job restoration subsequent to a toxicological specimen violation either at the pre-employment or post-employment stages.
